> [!Scheduled Sessions require a Premium subscription.]
Want your sessions to start automatically each day? Use **Scheduled Sessions** to plan focused work blocks in advance.
You can access your schedule from the **menu bar dropdown** or, if the main window is open, by clicking the **calendar icon** in the top-left corner. Either option opens the weekly calendar, where you can customize sessions for each day of the week.
---
### **Creating a Scheduled Session**
**Select a day** from the sidebar.
Click **“Schedule a Session…”** to create a new session for that day.
![[Days of the week@2x 1.png]]
---
### **Name Your Session**
Give your session a clear, descriptive name—like “Morning Writing Routine”.
### **Choose Days and Start Time**
You can assign the session to run on multiple days by selecting any combination of weekdays.
For example, choose Monday through Friday to have the same session run each workday—no need to recreate it five times.
You’ll notice there’s no end time. That’s because each step within your session has a duration, and some steps (especially those using the Engagement Timer) may take longer depending on your focus and breaks.

### **Add Steps to Your Session**
**Scheduled Sessions** are made up of one or more **steps**—each step can be either a **[[Creating Presets|Preset]]** or a **break**.
- Click the **“+”** button to add a preset as a step.
- Use the **“–”** button to remove one.
- Drag and drop steps to rearrange them.
Each step runs automatically after the one before it finishes, letting you build a structured, start-to-finish flow for your day.

### **Adding Breaks to Your Scheduled Session**
> [!All Breaks use the Standard Timer, which counts down continuously.]
>
Breaks are a great way to structure your day with intentional pauses—whether you want to recharge or reward yourself before jumping back into focus. You can insert **Breaks** into your scheduled session just like any other step.
Click the **“+”** button and choose **Break** to add it to your routine.
Breaks come in two types:
##### **Allow All**
Grants full access to all apps during the break.
Perfect for relaxing with casual activities—like browsing, grabbing a snack, or watching a quick video.
##### **Block All**
Blocks access to all apps during the break.
Encourages you to fully disconnect—step outside, stretch, or rest your eyes.
This is a great way to create a custom [[Using the Pomodoro Technique|Pomodoro-type schedule.]]
> [!Tip]
> You can also create custom breaks by setting up a Task with a specific allowlist or blocklist.

### Allowing a Scheduled Session to End Early
You can choose whether sessions can end early, and if so, how. This gives you control over how strictly you want to stick to your scheduled focus time.
##### Any time (default):
You can end the session whenever you like.
##### If another session is due:
Only allows you to end the session early if another scheduled session is about to begin. For example, if your current session is still running at 3:00 PM and a scheduled session is set to start at that time, you’ll be allowed to end the active session once that new session becomes eligible to begin.
##### By typing a phrase:
To end the session early, you must type the phrase _“All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”_ a set number of times. This adds friction and helps prevent quitting impulsively.
![[EndEarlyPolicy_Scheduled.png]]
To end an active session early, open the menu bar, hover over the active session, and select [[Ending a session early|End Session]]

### **Scheduling and Unscheduling**
Once you’ve built your session, click **Schedule** to have it start automatically on your selected days and time.
> [!All unfinished sessions will automatically cancel at midnight, giving you a fresh start each day.]

### View Upcoming Sessions
**Upcoming scheduled sessions** will appear in the **menu bar dropdown**, so you can easily see what’s coming up next. From here, you can monitor your current session, preview upcoming ones, or pause and cancel (if allowed). It’s a quick way to stay on track without opening the main app window.

### **Disable Scheduled Sessions**
If you want to **temporarily disable** the session without deleting it, click **Unschedule.** This saves the session but prevents it from automatically starting again until you reschedule it.

### **Locking a Session**
Locking adds a layer of accountability by preventing edits or early cancellation.
We recommend keeping your session **unlocked** for at least a week to make sure the timing and structure support your workflow. This gives you space to adjust things before making a final commitment.
![[LockButton_Schedule.png]]
When locking a session, you’ll choose an unlock date. Until that date:
- The session **cannot** be edited or canceled.
- Unlocking early requires typing a specific phrase **100 times**, to make sure you really mean it.
Locking is useful when you’re ready to commit and want to remove the option to back out when things get tough.
